Manager Position for a European Integrated Project

We are seeking a motivated scientist interested in furthering his/her career by increasing knowledge of cutting edge plant research in the context of the AGRON-OMICS project.
AGRON-OMICS (Arabidopsis Growth Network Integrating OMICS technologies) is an Integrated Project funded by the European Commission within the Framework Program 6 involving the top European plant research institutes (www.agron-omics.eu). The AGRON-OMICS research program focuses on the integration of a wide range of molecular profiling and phenotyping technologies to unravel leaf and plant growth gene regulatory networks.
The Project Manager has the following responsibilities:
- To maintain records of all consortium activities
- To organize, oversee and deliver annual project reports to the European Commission
- To take an active role in the coordination of scientific activities within the consortium
- To assist the coordinator and project’s partners in the organization of consortium and project’s board meetings, as well as international workshops and training activities
- To maintain and regularly update the project’s website
- To assist in data interpretation and management
The ideal candidate should have:
- Post-doctoral experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with scientists and administrators
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work within the constraints of strict deadlines
- Thorough knowledge of both written and spoken English
- Previous experience in plant biology or bioinformatics is an asset
The manager will be hired as soon as possible and work with the consortium until the end of the project in April 2012. S/he will be based in Ghent, a beautiful and welcoming city of 230,000 people with a large student population as well as a dynamic cultural environment. Ghent is only 35 minutes away from Brussels and two hours from Amsterdam, London and Paris.
